Thelma & Louise
Thelma & Louise is unapologetic, and it shouldn’t be. It’s vicious and violent, vengeful and vindictive. Ridley Scott captures Thelma and Louise on a road to liberation through expansive landscapes, but the star is Callie Khouri and her script. Khouri has constructed an exciting action, drama and romance film, all with two women at the center–which remains a rarely found pairing. Its rejection of domestication and female stereotypes exposes the parallels of American ideology with the patriarchal system–all done with a sense of humor. Thelma & Louise is essential–and unfortunately, all too timeless.
